For the month of February Tarah Gudmundson has been chosen as the February Rotary Student of the Month for Lakeville South High School. Tarah’s parents are Michael and Corinne Gudmundson and her Dean is Dana Kelly.
Tarah is a multi-talented senior who is very involved in the fine arts, athletics, STEM and the community.
For two years, Tarah was dually enrolled in both band and choir, trading off days to be a part of both programs. She is currently in drumline and her band director describes her as a very positive leader who leads by example.
Tarah is an Olympic Weightlifting state champion and is captain of the Olympic weightlifting team.
Tarah's STEM Capstone project last year involved working with middle school girls who may be interested in STEM. She worked on several projects with them to get them involved in STEM.
For the month of February Hannah Nietfeld has been chosen as the February Rotary Student of the Month for Lakeville North High School. Hannah’s parents are: Dale & Sarah Nietfeld and her Dean is Cary Zahn.
Hannah is a member of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) at Lakeville North High School, she is also a member of National Honor Society, a Peer Tutor, and a Faith Club Member. Hannah is a past member of Leadership Club, and Volleyball at Lakeville North. She is also a past member of the Hammerhead Volleyball Club. Hannah has a high GPA (4.31) at North, taking many AP and honors classes.
Outside Lakeville North High School, Hannah is a lead on the wait staff at Highview Hills Senior Living, she is a youth volleyball coach for Lakeville North Juniors, she also babysits for a family with four children. At All Saints Church, she is a Faith Enrichment Catechist. She is a Faith Mentor with Connecting Youth.
Other projects Hannah has volunteered for are Feed My Starving Children, All Saints Armful of Love, City of Lakeville Secret Santa, fundraising for LNHS Volleyball and VFW Easter Bake Sale, as well as a project to donate funds to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
