Ken Mosier, Moriah Peterson, Jan Belmore Ken Mosier introduced our speakers Jan Belmore and Moriah Peterson from Kids ‘n Kinship. Kids ‘n Kinship provides friendships and positive role models to children and youth ages 5-16 who are in need of an additional supportive relationship with an adult. They provide services to children in the communities of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Farmington, Lakeville and Rosemount, and also provide school-based mentoring at four elementary schools. Their community-based mentoring program matches individuals, couples and families with children in need of a supportive relationship. The goal of the mentorship is to minimize isolation and prevent or reduce at-risk behaviors. Volunteers need to 21 or older and willing to make a one-year commitment to the program and spend one to four hours a week with their child. Children to the program are referred by their parents, social worker or health care professionals. Other opportunities to help include: |
