Brain science will be applied to enlighten participants on the steps necessary in order to explore and enhance opportunities to provide for better client outcomes. Mike will give participants one of the tools they need so that they can apply this technique immediately at work, home and in life.

October Rotary Students of the Month
OCTOBER 2019 ROTARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Each month of the school year, the Lakeville Rotary Club recognizes students of the senior class who demonstrate “Service Above Self”.

Sydney Gelhorn, Dakota Rawley

For the month of October Sydney Gelhorn has been chosen as the October Rotary Student of the Month for Lakeville North High School. Sydney’s mom Amy and brother Sam Gelhorn.  Sydney’s Dean is Dan McNulty.

Sydney holds many awards and is very involved in activities at Lakeville North High School. She has a current GPA of 4.3 and is 14 in a class of 458. Sydney is an AP Scholar with Distinction. She was nominated for the RYLA Leadership Camp during grade 11.  She was also awarded the coaches all-section academic team award.

At Lakeville North High School, Sydney is in Girls Soccer, a member of Marching Band, a member of Speech Team in past years, a member of National Honor Society. She was on the Girls Track team, currently a member of student council, a Super Fan/Hype Squad member and a member of Youth in Government.

Outside Lakeville North, Sydney coaches’ young kids soccer. She is part of Youth Teaching Youth, elementary school kids, she also volunteers as a Second-Grade assistant to a teacher at Eastview Elementary. Sydney volunteers at the MN Zoo Farm. She has worked at the City of Lakeville and at MN Zoo Guest Services as well as B52 restaurant.

Lakeville South High School will recognize Dakota Rawley as the Lakeville South High School Rotary Student of the Month for October.  Dakota’s parents are Daniel & Kimberly Rawley and his Dean: Dr. Dana Kelly.

Dakota is a senior who has accomplished a lot within his 3+ years at Lakeville South.
Not only is Dakota a great student with a 34 ACT, 4.03 GPA and class rank in the top 15%, he is a leader within the Lakeville South STEM Academy.

Perhaps it could have been by default since his dad, Dan Rawley, has been the coordinator for the last 4 years, but Dakota fell into the leadership role very naturally.
Dakota has demonstrated leadership by:
  • becoming a CREO expert and teaching others how to use the engineering software
  • leading his peers as a captain on the FCR robotics team
  • organizing the equipment for a more design/process/production flow in the STEM area
  • fixing any broken equipment (such as 3d printers) and assembling new equipment and machines
  • conducting tours of the STEM Academy for any group of students or adults who want to learn more about the STEM Academy
Dakota has been a true ambassador for the LSHS STEM program
