DECEMBER 2017 ROTARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Each month of the school year, the Lakeville Rotary Club recognizes students of the senior class who demonstrate “Service Above Self”.

Rachel Emerson, Gianna Rucki
For the month of December Rachel Emerson will be recognized as the Lakeville South Rotary Student of the Month.

Rachel’s parents are Jeff and Patricia Emerson and her Dean is Shaun Murphy.  During her time at Lakeville South High School, Rachel has demonstrated a work ethic that is seldom matched by fellow students. While many seniors are taking a lighter load their last year of high school, Rachel has enrolled in four AP classes and one honors course. In addition, she has a 4.33 GPA and scored a 34 on her ACT.

Rachel is one of those unique students who can partake in many school activities and able to succeed with them all. She is the captain of our cross-country team and a state tournament participant. In addition, she is a leader in our Youth in Government Club, Faith Club, Cougars Leading Cougars, Key Club, and HOSA. As a volunteer, Rachel has participated in a mission trip to Haiti, been a youth group leader, has read to elementary students, and volunteers at her church.

Rachel is an outstanding individual and she is most deserving of being this month’s Rotary Student of the Month.

Lakeville North will recognize Gianna Rucki  as the December Student of the Month.

Gianna’s father is David Rucki and her Dean is Holly Standke.

Gianna maintains a rigorous high school schedule including college-level classes at Normandale Community College.  Gianna’s academics, character, leadership and extra-curricular commitments were recognized as she was the winner of the “Distinguished Young Women of Minnesota” scholarship for the class of 2018.

Gianna is a member of DECA club and student council at Lakeville North High School. She also is a member of the Nordic Ski Team and Student Council.  She is in Key Club, Faith Club, Spanish Club and on the Bowling Team.  Gianna volunteers for the Lakeville Yellow Ribbon, Feed My Starving Children and Adopt-A-Highway Clean up.
